Spiral Staircase: You Can Do It!
While apartment hunting today, Linus attempted to navigate this staircase in a potential apartment. It was a failure… he got about halfway up and gave up! He wouldn’t even go up for a TREAT at the top- we needed to pick him up and carry him. Evidently, corgi legs do not work well on steep spiral staircases.

spiral staircase no-go
So much for that place! Kind of a bummer, too, because it was big (huge closets!) and affordable. However, if the dog can’t make it from the kitchen/living room to the bedroom (the bedroom & patio were down at the bottom of the staircase), that’s a dealbreaker.
For those of you who were asking what Buddy was at the vet for- he had been itching like crazy, and we couldn’t find any fleas on him. So we took him in and the vet thought he had fleas, so he was treated with Advantage. Then he was STILL itching two days later, so he was given a steroid shot. The vet said it’s probably allergies. The shot worked and thankfully Linus is back to his happy-go-lucky, non-itchy, non-spiral staircase navigating self.

poor Linus with those stairs! good thing you bring him along though on your apartment hunting adventures. imagine if you moved in and then found out he didn’t like the stairs
glad the steroid shot seemed to help him with the itching; poor guy!
betty
Glad to hear Linus is again itch-free!
As Betty said, it’s good he goes apartment hunting with you!
Going *down* spiral staircases can be even worse for some animals.
The folks who got a cow to the roof of one of my alma mater’s buildings probably knew that she wasn’t going to go down the way she went up….
Steps really are a booger for corgi’s. Too bad about that cute apartment and those steps. It would probably be hard to get things down there anyway.
I’m glad to hear that Linus is doing better! It still could have been fleas because it took my moms dog a good week before all of the fleas were killed off from the Frontline.
Hope you find a good apartment
Glad Linus is better.
It’s great to catch up with your family’s adventures now I have a breathing moment from all the feeding/burping! Glad to hear that Linus’ feeling better, I tell you steroids work wonders ;P And good luck w/ apt hunting, are you looking in the East Bay/ Peninsula since you mentioned the burbs? Oh and thanks for all the well wishes, Eva’s doing great, we’re the one who’re in bad shape
