Another Grossly Overweight Corgi
I’ve pointed out some very fat rescue corgis on this blog before. (Speaking of, Debbie… how is Princess doing? Could you fill us in please? Does she still need donations for water therapy?)
When helping out a reader who kindly posted yesterday looking for a rescue corgi, I came across yet another severely overweight corgi girl who looks like she could use some help, a diet overhaul, and LOTS of exercise and love.

Very Overweight Corgi, Puppy
Meet Puppy. When Puppy was given up by her family to rescue, she was a massive 53.2 lbs! That’s an insane amount of weight for a dog who should be under 30lbs! Poor thing. However, with the help and love of her rescue organization, she’s already down to 42.4 lbs. I wonder if they have her on the infamous “green bean diet.” Also, sounds like she’s been going for walks and has worked her way up to 60 yards per day. Could you imagine your dog being so obese that he or she could ONLY walk 60 yards before exhaustion?!?
Yet again, I am appalled at how people can let their dogs get up to these weights. Just demonstrates such massive negligence, and poor stewardship of their pooch’s health. ::shakes head::
Fortunately, in Puppy’s case, it sounds like she is in loving hands for the time being, and is also looking for a wonderful Forever Home. Could that be you? Here are some photos of this sweetheart:

Look at that fantastic corgi smile!

Sweet looking corgi girl
I’ve emailed Puppy’s rescue family to see if she could use some donations to help with water therapy classes, like we did with Princess. In the meantime, I encourage you to check out her ad on Petfinder, and also think if you know anyone willing to adopt this gorgeous (but chunky!) sweetie. Will post any updates, if I get them, asap.

That dog is sooooo cute!
Hope she finds a good home soon.
Nice of you to help by posting it in your blog.
Gosh, we had no idea a corgi could even get that big! I (Dozer) am on a diet because I need to lose 3 pounds, I cannot imagine having to lose 10 or more! Let us know about donations for the water therapy classes, Mum says she will be happy to donate.
Love, Dozer, Dottie and Cooper
Oh my goodness! She is a beautiful corgi! I can’t imagine someone letting their dog get that big! I think a dog’s weight would be easier to control than a persons weight. I know what that poor girl needs is a home in the country where she can have fun chasing squirrels and rabbits and cats up a tree! That is what keeps me girls in good shape! lol We had to bunnies in our garden yesterday and Jazz almost got one! YIKES! She runs around here like she’s a greyhound racetrack dog! lol That is what I tell her! I know they wouldn’t let me have her because my yard is not fenced! It doesn’t need to be.
Hugs,
Angela
she’s cute; gasp, Koda is a bit (but not that much overweight like this one); but we are working on it; cutting back portions and increasing exercise and its paying off. Its those eyes of his……….
I would adopt in heartbeat, but we can only have 1 pet where we are renting
betty
puppy’s story definitely resonates with us – we just adopted stanley, a senior norwegian elkhound, who somehow had gotten up to 122 lbs! he should weigh about 55 lbs at the top of his breed standard, so we’re looking at losing more than 50 % of his body weight. portion control and walking is helping us make great progress, but i understand about the walking. if we get all the way around the block without breaks, it’s a triumph! (we’ve down 2 blocks on a few occasions lately!!) as a waterphobe, the hydrotherapy is probably not going to happen for us, but we’re working on it!
